“While the earth remaineth, seed time and harvest, summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease” (Genesis 8:22).
Did The Groundhog See His Shadow?
Not if he was smart! Any sensible little creature with a comfortable hiding place would not come out during a Minnesota winter! Agreed? One of the nice things about our winters, like some things in the Bible, they come to pass -- they do not come to stay. Praise the Lord!
I’m glad for our four seasons! A cold winter spell makes one appreciate a beautiful warm spring day all the more! One thing we should remember, however -- God is still in control of the weather. A second thing is that God still answers prayer. The early disciples called upon Christ in desperation, and He stilled the wind and calmed the sea.
Another thing we must take into consideration -- it is impossible to please all the people all the time! God could not possibly send weather daily that would please everybody. The poet was right when he penned the words:
Which ever way the wind doth blow
Some are glad to have it so.
Blow it East or blow it West,
The wind that blows -- that wind is best!
The Set Of The Sail
One ship sails east and one sails west
By the self-same wind that blows,
It’s the set of the sail and not the gale
That determines the way it goes.
Like the winds of the sea are the ways of fate,
As we journey along through life.
It’s the set of the soul that determines the goal,
And not the stress or the strife.
-Rebecca R. Williams
If you want to be DISTRESSED, look within.
If you want to be DEFEATED, look back.
If you want to be DISTRACTED, look around.
If you want to be DISMAYED, look before.
If you want to be DELIVERED, look up.
If you want to be DELIGHTED, look to Christ.

Someone Has Said:
The solution to the American family problems is contained in one word -- CHRIST.
CHRIST at the marriage altar.
CHRIST on the bridal journey.
CHRIST when the new home is set up.
CHRIST when the baby comes.
CHRIST in the pinching times.
CHRIST in the days of plenty.
CHRIST when the wedded pair walk toward sunset gates.
CHRIST when one is taken and the other left.
CHRIST in time, CHRIST for eternity.
CHRIST is the secret of a happy home life.
If You Are Not A Christian, Why Not?
Is it because you are afraid of ridicule, and of what others may say of you? “Whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words; of him shall the Son of man be ashamed.” (Luke 9:26).
Is it because of the inconsistencies of professing Christians? “Every man shall give account of himself to God.” (Romans 14:12).
Is it because you are not willing to give up all for Christ? “What shall it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his own soul?” (Matthew 16:26).
Is it because you are afraid you will not be accepted? “Him that cometh unto me I will in no wise cast out.” (John 6:37).
Is it because you fear you are too great a sinner? “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow, though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.” (Isaiah 1:18).
Is it because you think you are doing the best you can, and God ought to be satisfied with that? “Whosoever shall keep the whole law, and offend in one point is guilty of all.” (James 2:10).
Is it because you think there is time enough yet? “Boast not thyself of tomorrow, for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.” (Proverbs 27:1).
It is summertime in my heart!
It is summertime in my heart!
Since Jesus saved me
New life He gave me!
Even in wintertime it’s summer
In my heart!
MINNESOTA WINTERS
by Charlie Grier
With snow everywhere,
More flakes in the air,
And north wind blowing strong!
How can we, still happy be,
And maintain a joyful song?
How can I, look up in the sky,
Where my Savior reigns supreme,
Without wishing the snow,
Would suddenly go,
And the roads would all be clean!
The weather is cold, and I am old,
Isn’t it time for a break?
I’m not so sure,
I can take any more!
“Have mercy on me,” I pray.
Then the Lord says, “Child
If the weather were mild,
Would that mean anything to you?
You don’t go outside,
And there’s someone to guide,
In case you ever do.
That bountiful snow,
Piled high and low
Has a mission to fulfill.
It forms a blanket for mother earth
And fulfills the Father’s will.
That moisture’s God’s way, of saying “Good Day!”
When all nature awakes in spring.
Then flowers again will blossom,
And birds again will sing,
And heaven and earth will rejoice in HIM,
Our SAVIOR! and our KING!
