The Bible Says

Remember!

REMEMBER OUR BRAVE SERVICE MEN AND WOMEN!

Memorial Day has come and gone, but it is always fitting to remember our Military Heroes. Memorial Day is a patriotic holiday originally designed to honor those who died for their country during the Civil War. It now includes those of the Spanish-American War, World Wars I and II, the Korean War, the Gulf War, Afghanistan, and Iraq.

It probably takes more courage to be a Foreign Service Man today than in any previous war, simply because our military people are not getting the backing at home they wholeheartedly deserve!

In spite of the September 11th bombing, some give President Bush total responsibility for having started the war. I am not a politician, but I often wonder what they would have done had they been in the President’s place. Would they said, “O.K.! Buddies. You can drop your deadly bombs any time you feel like. We won’t retaliate because our nation does not believe in war”?

When Jesus said, “Turn the other cheek,” He was not addressing nations, but individuals. He set an example for all dedicated believers when He did not resist those who scourged and crucified Him. Nevertheless, when He returns to Reign As King Of Kings, He will subdue the warring nations and set up a Kingdom of Righteousness.

“Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.” (Revelation 19:11).

We don’t claim to have all the answers but one thing I know; when someone lays down his life for me, I owe that one a debt I can never pay! Or when someone fights to avoid future bombings of my beloved America, I owe that man (or woman) an equal debt! Furthermore, if any individual loses eyes, limbs, or other injuries while in American Combat, we are all obligated to make the rest of that person’s life as pleasant and enjoyable as is humanly possible. The Bible says:

REMEMBER!

  1. Remember Those Who Have Died For 0ur Country!
  2. Remember Those In Military Hospitals.
  3. Remember Their Wives And Children.
  4. Remember What God Has Done For Us Nationally.
  5. Our Pilgrim Fathers Came To Seek Freedom and They Found Freedom! (Deut. 15:15).
  6. Despite A Small Beginning America Has Become A World Power.
  7. We Have Declared Ourselves To Be, ONE NATION UNDER GOD! Have We Been As Faithful To God As He Has Been To Us?

The following thoughts are from the Internet and handed to me by my friend, Nathan Hale.

This Pastor Has Guts

Brian Ranallo

Thought you might enjoy this interesting prayer given in Kansas at the opening session of their Senate. It seems prayer still upsets some people. When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard:

“Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, ‘Woe to those who call evil good,’ but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor’s possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set free. Amen!”

The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out during the prayer in protest. In six short weeks, Central Christian Church, where Rev. Wright is pastor, logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls responding negatively. The church is now receiving international requests for copies of this prayer from India, Africa and Korea.

Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on his radio program, “The Rest of the Story,” and received a larger response to this program than any other he has ever aired.

With the Lord’s help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we again can be called “One nation under God.”

My Country ‘tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing.
Land where my fathers died,
Land of the pilgrims’ pride,
From ev’ry mountain side.
Let freedom ring!

My native country, thee,
Land of the noble, free,
Thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and hills,
Thy woods and templed hills;
My heart with rapture thrills
Like that above.

Let music swell the breeze,
And ring from all the trees
Sweet freedom’s song:
Let mortal tongues awake;
Let all that breathe partake;
Let rocks their silence break,
The sound prolong.

Our fathers’ God to Thee,
Author of liberty,
To Thee we sing;
Long may our land be bright
With freedom’s holy light;
Protect us by Thy night,
Great God, our King!
