Charlie's Open Letter to his Relatives
September 24, 2000
To all my Loved Ones
Greetings in the Name of the Lord!
This letter is being mailed to every living relative of mine, whose address I have presently been able to obtain. It is written in love and because I believe God prompted me to write it. My prayer is that it will be received in the spirit in which it was written. Should the Lord call me Home in the near future this will be something to remember me by.
In a few weeks I will be 94 years old. The Lord has permitted me to live longer than any other member of my family. My brother John died at 93, but I am a few months older now, than he was when he departed this life. I have to use a walker in order to walk, otherwise I am in perfect health.
I found Christ as my personal Savior in February, 1925. To my knowledge, as I was the first in my family to do so, I immediately began praying for every member of my family. I not only want to go to Heaven -- I want to see all my loved ones there! My dear old Mother and my sister Essie were saved, on the same day, about one month after my conversion. I prayed for my Dad 15 years before he accepted Christ. Archie waited 20 years from the time I started praying for him till he gave his heart to the Lord, but he lived a consistent Christian life from that day on. I am daring to believe that all my other brothers and sisters will be in Heaven, waiting to greet me when I arrive. Praise the Lord!
I have four children and all are gloriously saved and dedicated Christians. My concern now is for my grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and all my other living relatives. Some have told me not to write to them, or to send our literature to them, so I no longer know whether they are living or dead.
To all of you on my mailing list, I want you to know that I attempt to pray for every one of you, at least, once a week. I do not simply pray for the list. I pray for each of you individually. I just want to know I will see you in Heaven. I have sent literature to some of you for over thirty years, and have never heard from you, even once. But I still love you and will continue to pray for you. Nothing would thrill my soul more than a letter from you, or even a simple little postcard, saying you love me.
if you have not yet taken Christ as personal Savior, please do so before it is everlastingly too late!
To those of you who love the Lord, please don't think I am doubting your salvation, because you are included among those who receive this letter -- I am sending this letter, and the accompanying tract, to every living relative on my mailing list. I would send it to the others if I could. Additional tracts can be sent upon your request as supplies are available. Limited funds may delay some requests. Large amounts are dependant upon supply and funding.
Love to all,
Great-grandpa Grier
