“The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad” (Psalm 26:3).
If ever I had reason to be gratefully happy it is this THANKSGIVING DAY. My family arranged for a wonderful celebrtion in honor of my 100th Birthday. Family and friends came from several states to join wth my local friends in wishing me a HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Those who could not come sent cards and gifts. One life-time friend wrote the following poem in honor of me and my family:
A GLIMPSE OF THE GRIER FAMILY
by Mahlon & Mona Waller
I once knew a family named Grier,
Who of Satan and his demons had no fear.
In God’s word they abide
With Christ at their side
They here spread the “Good News”
To all who will hear.
I received so many lovely cards and letters; I wish I could share all of them. Another life-time friend, “Janell Bowers,” together with her dear husband, Keith Bowers, sent me a Card that one could send only to a close friend. It reads:
God made friends
Because stories, dreams,
Hugs and prayers
Are meant to be shared
God made friends
To remind us
To laugh a lot
And be really silly
Sometimes …
God made friends
To help us feel
Loved and accepted
Just the way we are.
God made friends
To shine His love in our lives
In a very special way.
With heart-to-heart
Birthday prayers
And wishes
For a friend
Who means so much.
God bless you
Today and Always
THE BIRTHDAY BEAUTITUDES
Blessed are those
Who take birthdays in stride,
Who can smile
When the big day is here…
Blessed are those
Who can look back with pride
On another enjoyable year…
Blessed are those
Who have stayed young at heart,
Who will always seem right
In their prime…
Blessed are those
Who have mastered the art
Of living one day at a time…
Blessed are those
Who could never be said
To have bowed
To today’s tears and sorrow…
Blessed are those
Who keep looking ahead
To a brighter and better tomorrow…
Blessed are those
Who have learned how to see
All the beauty
Of sharing and giving…
Blessed are those
Who’ve discovered the key
To a life that is really worth living!
May you be blessed
With happiness
On your birthday
And always!

These “Blessed’s are you!!
These friends from Wisconsin had wished to be with us for my 100th Birthday Celebration. When they found they could not come they sent this beautiful and meaningful card. Many others did the same. Every card and gift sent was a tremendous expression of love, and is truly appreciated and treasured.
The Real Key to Happiness At This Thanksgiving Season
One line in that poem of Birthday Beatitudes reads: “Blessed are those who’ve discovered the key to a life that is really worth living.”
Franklin Graham in a recent letter tells of 50,000 who attended a Crusade in Quito Ecuador, and 14,000 made public decisions for Christ.
Among those who cane with that purpose in mind were Ruben and Gladys Quishpe and their 4 children. “We want to listen about God,” he told us as they entered the stadium, “We just want to change.” At the invitation, they walked quickly to the front along with their children. “The moment they invited us to come forward, we decided to receive the Lord in our hearts,” Ruben said. “I have peace right now because I can feel the Lord in my heart,” Gladys added.
A Grateful Mind Is A Happy Mind
Thanks to God for my Redeemer,
Thanks for all He does provide,
Thanks for times now but a memory,
Thanks for Jesus by my side,
Thanks for pleasant balmy springtime.
Thanks for dark and dreary fall,
Thanks for tears by now forgotten,
Thanks for peace within my soul,
Thanks for prayers that Thou hast answered,
Thanks for what Thou dost deny,
Thanks for storms that I have weathered,
Thanks for all Thou dost supply,
Thanks for pain, and thanks for pleasure,
Thanks for comfort in despair,
Thanks for grace that none can measure,
Thanks for love beyond compare,
Thanks for roses by the wayside,
Thanks for thorns their stems contain,
Thanks for home and thanks for fireside,
Thanks for hope that sweet refrain,
Thanks for joy and thanks for sorrow,
Thanks for heavenly peace with Thee,
Thanks for hope in the tomorrow,
Thanks through all eternity.
“My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: for length of days, and long life, and peace shall they add to thee. Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck: write them upon the table of thine heart: and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.
Dirty Dishes
Thank God for dirty dishes,
They have a tale to tell;
While others may go hungry
We’ve eaten pretty well.
With home, health and happiness
I shouldn’t want to fuss,
By the stack of evidence
God’s been very good to us.
