Christmas is the one day of the year when families get together, decorate the premises, pop corn and eat nuts.
It should be the jolliest and happiest time of the whole year, but it is more than bells and tinsel. On that day we commemorate THE BIRTH OF OUR WONDERFUL LORD! Take away that glorious reality and you have absolutely nothing!
Jesus Christ Fulfilled Scripture At His Birth
1. HE WAS BORN IN BETHLEHEM AS PROPHESIED.
“And thou Bethlehem art not the least among the princes of Judah: for out of thee shall come a Governor that shall rule My people Israel” (Genesis 2:6).
“Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem” (Matthew 2:1).
2. HE HAD NO HUMAN FATHER.
“Behold a virgin shall conceive, and bear a Son, and shall call his name Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14).
“Behold a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a Son, and they shall call His name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us” (Matthew 1:23).
3. JOSEPH, HIS FOSTER FATHER, TOOK HIM TO EGYPT.
“And when they (the wise men) were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him” (Matthew 2:13).
“When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my Son out of Egypt” (Hosea 11:1).
4. HEROD KILLED BETHLEHEM’S CHILDREN, AS FORETOLD BY THE PROPHET.
“Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and younger according to the time that he had diligently enquired of the wise men.
“Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet” (Matthew 2:16,17).
“Thus saith the Lord; a voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rachel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not” (Jeremiah 31:15).
5. HE BECAME A NAZARINE ACCORDING TO BIBLE PROPHECY.
“And when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, saying, Arise and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child’s life” (Matthew 2:19,20).
“And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene” (Matthew 2:23).
6. HE DID NOT BECOME THE SON OF GOD WHEN BORN IN BETHELEM’S MANGER.
JESUS IS THE ETERNAL SON OF GOD.
Jesus prayed: “And now Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory that I had with thee: before the world was” (John 17:5).
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life and the life was the light of men” (John 1:1-4).
“And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” (John 1:14).
8. HE BECAME OUR REDEEMER WHEN HE DIED FOR OUR SINS AND AROSE AGAIN THROUGH HIS GLORIOUS RESURRECTION.
“He (Christ) was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification” (Romans 4:25).
9. HE IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.
Jesus said, “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on Me should not remain in darkness” (John 12:46).
He lived some 30 years working as a carpenter in his stepfather’s shop; and only the last 3 years of His life in public ministry. The big question, when did He become, “The light of the world?” When He was born in Bethlehem’s manger. Likewise, we are to be little lights in a dark world, through our everyday lives.
10. JESUS DEMONSTRATED OUTSTANDING LOVE
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” ROMANS 5:8
11. HE WAS BORN A KING.
“Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayst that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world . . .” (John 18:37).
When Christ Returns, He will rule over the entire earth. “And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, “KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS” (Revelation 19:16).
When the NEW JERUSALEM descends, Christ will reign forever over the entire universe. ”THE KINGDOMS OF THIS WORLD ARE BECOME THE KINGDOMS OF OUR LORD AND OF HIS CHRIST; AND HE SHALL REIGN FOREVER AND EVER” (Revelation 12:15}.
Lead Me to Calvary
King of my life I crown Thee now.
Thine shall the glory be.
Lest I forget Thy thorn-crowned brow
Lead me to Calvary.
